Wine & History

Back in time, even the ancient Romans loved wine …

… and ever since, wine has been one of the oldest cultural artifacts of humanity. So it has become a big part of religion and mythology and life can’t be imagined without it – even in our modern world. Today, many people drink and enjoy wine which makes it one of the most popular drinks all over the world.

Lieser is one of the oldest villages located in the Middle Moselle valley. There are three well-known vineyard locations where our wine is being cultivated: Schloßberg, Niederberg-Helden, Rosenlay.

Riesling is the most famous and most cultivated variety of wine at the Moselle and is therefore also called the “Queen of Wines”. Mostly, Riesling is cultivated at sunny, steep slopes. Riesling wines are also well known on global markets. They stand out due to their minerality, delicious fruit, elegance and durability.

Lieser is home to several top winegrowers. They are listed in many well-known wine guides as Gault Millau, Falstaff or Eichelmann. Furthermore, they regularly win national as well as international prices and awards. But they are still down-to-earth – always looking forward to meeting and presenting their products to you.

Come and experience the uniqueness of Lieser’s wines and enjoy the beautiful landscape while visiting one of the wineries or going for a walk in the vineyards.
